Environmental sustainability is defined as responsible interaction with the environment to avoid depletion or degradation of natural resources and allow for long-term environmental quality.
The practice of environmental sustainability helps to ensure that the needs of today's population are met without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
Look at the natural environment, we see that it has a rather remarkable ability to rejuvenate itself and sustain its viability. For example, when a tree falls, it decomposes, adding nutrients to the soil. These nutrients help sustain suitable conditions so future saplings can grow.
When nature is left alone, it has a tremendous ability to care for itself. However, when man enters the picture and uses many of the natural resources provided by the environment, things change. Human actions can deplete natural resources, and without the application of environmental sustainability methods, long-term viability can be compromised.

Our laundry mills adhere to MRSL for chemical purchasing practice, and its ZDHC wastewater parameters are tested annually via global provisional accepted certified labs, reviewed via Clean Chain, a brand requested platform for monthly chemical delivery & stock take record.

With annual assessment including Self-Assessment & 3P Verification finalised, our facilities of COO KH, ID, VN and CN monitor environmental performance via FEM by Energy & GHG, Water, Wastewater, Waste, Air Emissions and Chemical Purchasing behaviour.

Our GHG Reduction Goal
The UN Climate Change Conference called for more urgent climate action to be taken in response to extreme global climate change. GHG emissions should be halved by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. It is now the responsibility of all large enterprises to make continued reductions to GHG emissions to cope with the challenges of extreme climate. Tainan Enterprise’ GHG reduction commitment:
Based on 2018, the goal is to reduce the emission intensity per million dollars of business value by 30% by 2030.
To fulfill our commitments, Tainan Enterprises have adopted the following strategies in overseas production areas with huge production capacity:
-
Phase-out of coal: Since 2018, the Jakarta and Cambodia factories that use coal-based boilers have begun to gradually reduce the use of coal and replace it with biomass energy.
-
Gradually introduce electric boilers to reduce the number of combustion boilers in the factory.

*Only counted energy usage by production processes
* Conversion based the GHG Emission Factor Table (6.0.4) issued by the Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan
* Conversion of externally purchased electricity by Tainan Factory based on the 2021 electricity emission coefficient issued by the Energy Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs.
* The emission coefficient of externally purchased electricity of each factory area is from the local electricity provider.
* Steam at Gaoqing Factory was calculated using formula 17 from the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Accounting Methods and Reporting Guidelines for Other Industries (Trial)
* Heat capacity of steam at Gaoqing Factory was based on the Steam Enthalpy Reference Table published by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology.
